Gil Alkabetz was born in 1957 in the Kibutz Mashabei Sade in Israell.
1979-1983 he studied graphic design at the Bezalel academy of art and design in Jerusalem.
1983 he graduated with excellence, with his first animation film “Bitzbutz”, which got numerous prizes in several festivals.
1984-1985 he worked at the animation studio “Frame by frame” in Jerusalem as an animation director.
1985-1989 worked as a free-lancer illustrator, comic artist, animation director and animation teacher.
1989-1991 made his second film “Swamp” at the Kunstakademie” in Stuttgart.
In 1994 he moved to Stuttgart, Germany, and worked together with studio Film Bilder on commissioned projects for SDR, Nickelodeon, and MTV, as well as on his awn author films “Yankale” and “Rubicon”. Both films got prizes in different film festivals.
At 2000 he established, together with his partner and wife Nurit Israeli, their own independent studio “Sweet Home Studio”. They are producing independent short films and co productions with German TV (SWR and NDR Channels).
Parallel, Gil alkabetz holds the position of a professor for animation at the film University Konrad Wolf in Babelsberg, and has been giving workshops in different schools in Europe, USA and Israel.
