Apresentação

“Out there” existe um diálogo entre mudança e segurança. Esta exposição contém um seleção de imagens de novas histórias de banda desenhada, aqui apresentadas de forma leve e espaçosa em tecido e em papel.

Estas novas obras mostram um encontro e alguns cruzamentos figurativos e narrativos com composições coloridas inspiradas na arquitetura e na natureza. “Out There” é sobre o espaço que preenchemos e as lacunas que podemos deixar.

Uma novo conjunto de serigrafias da editora italiana Strane Dizioni será lançado em conjunto com esta mostra.

Fikaris é um artista australiano que trabalha principalmente em banda desenhada, gravura e murais com amor por desenhar e explorar sem parar. Trabalhou com galerias e editoras ao longo de sua carreira e tem obras de arte em várias coleções, como a National Gallery of Victoria (Living Artists Colection), State Library of Victoria ( colecção de livros de artistas) e National Gallery of Australia (Art book colectiom).

Em 2023 Fikaris publicou novas histórias em banda desenhada a solo da com a Glom Press, AU e Kus.

A par da sua obra artística, Fikaris é um pequeno editor de trabalhos impressos e trabalhador artístico comunitário, o que lhe permitiu trabalhar extensivamente com várias comunidades, bem como instituições de arte e organismos educativos de todo o mundo. Tem coordenado a publicação de antologias de artistas, eventos ao vivo e workshops sob o nome “Silent Army” desde 2007 e em 2019 editou a colecção australiana de banda desenhada 'Down Down Under' para a editora européia Kus.

Este ano reuniu um acervo de artistas australianos e portugueses com Marcos Farrajota e DGLAB e chamaram-lhe 'Opposights'.

Overview

Out There is a dialogue between change and safety. This show contains a selection of images from new comic book works, presented here in a light and spacious display of fabric and paper and installation.

 These new works show a meeting of some of the figurative and narrative crossing into his colourful compositions inspired by architecture and natures place within it. Out There is about the space we fill and the gaps we can leave.
A new serigraph set from his Italian publisher Strane Dizioni will be launched in tandem with the opening.

Fikaris is an Australian artist working primarily on comic art, printmaking and murals with a love of non stop drawing and exploring.
He has been working with galleries and publishers throughout his career and has artwork held in numerous private collections as well as the National Gallery of Victoria (Living Artists Collection), State Library of Victoria (Artists' Books Collection) and National Gallery of Australia (Book Arts Collection).

In 2023 Fikaris has new solo comic books from Glom Press, AU and Kus, EU.

Alongside his artistic oeuvre, Fikaris is a small press publisher and community arts worker, which has allowed him to work extensively with various communities as well as art institutions and educational bodies around the world. He has been coordinating printed artist anthologies, live events and workshops under the name Silent Army since 2007 and in 2019 he edited the Australian comic book collection 'Down Down Under' for the European publisher Kus.

This year he put together a collection of Australian and Portuguese artists with Marcos Farrajota and DGLAB called 'Opposights'.
