“Corpo Gráfico. 3 naipes e 1 inventário” é a segunda exposição de Susana Marques na Tinta nos Nervos, pontuando uma nova etapa num percurso que se tem desenvolvido lenta e consistentemente com a criação de um alfabeto formal a sintetizar a multiplicidade da experiência criativa.
O meu processo artístico é o do desenho, qualquer que seja a matéria. A procura, a das grafias mais exatas para um pensar visual, escreveu recentemente a artista sobre o seu trabalho.
Daí que a depuração dos signos tridimensionais, agora manufaturados a uma só cor, recupere essa ideia de essencialidade de um símbolo capaz de encerrar a potencia do discurso. As figuras alinham-se como letras de um alfabeto. Reencontramos tipos que vimos em trabalhos anteriores, mas se anteriormente a experiência da cor, das texturas ou das características dos vários materiais tecidos balançava a percepção entre o apelo da identificação ( um boneco? uma figura humana? uma cadeira? ), a manualidade das formas da escultura, as geografias adivinhadas em padrões ou modos de fazer, agora essa dispersão uniformiza-se na estabilização de um vocabulário. Todas as formas nascem em fazenda escura concentrando em si a ideia de desenho avançado pela artista. Desenha-se no espaço, desenham-se ideias, estabelecem-se ligações, cronologias.
Poder-se-ia dizer que esta exposição é um balanço reflexivo sobre o manuseio da linguagem formal encontrada e simultaneamente uma proposta para novos caminhos gráficos. Se atendermos aos desenhos, organizados em conjuntos, estes surgem agora “submersos em cor” e é essa inclusão que, como refere a artista, os “transporta para outro espaço, virtual, para além do papel”. As figuras estabilizadas através do redesenhar constante que as define, que as vai depurando, estilizando, diluem-se intencionalmente na leitura ao incorporar a mesma cor do fundo, com uma pequena variação na concentração do pigmento.
A ideia da nomenclatura – são “naipes” de desenhos, três conjuntos de quatro desenhos com os fundos tintados, cada um com uma das cores primárias: amarelo, laranja/vermelho, azul – mais do que corresponder a um impulso lúdico, que também existe, reforça sobretudo a ideia de seriação e catalogação das imagens, num mesmo processo de inventariação do trabalho que organiza toda a mostra.

Graphic Body. 3 suits and 1 inventory is Susana Marques' second exhibition at Tinta nos Nervos, marking a new stage in a journey that has developed slowly and consistently with the creation of a formal alphabet to synthesise the multiplicity of her creative experience.
"My artistic process is drawing, whatever the subject. The search, that of the most exact spellings for a visual thought," the artist recently wrote about her work.
That's why the purification of the three-dimensional signs, now manufactured in a single colour, recovers that idea of the essentiality of a symbol capable of enclosing the power of discourse. The figures are lined up like letters in an alphabet. We are revisiting types that we have seen in previous works, but if previously the experience of colour, textures or the characteristics of the various woven materials swayed perception between the appeal of identification (a doll? a human figure? a chair?), the manuality of the sculpture's forms, the geographies guessed in patterns or ways of making, now this dispersion is standardised in the stabilisation of a vocabulary. All the forms are born on a dark farm, concentrating in themselves the idea of drawing put forward by the artist. Space is drawn, ideas are drawn, connections and chronologies are established..
It could be said that this exhibition is a reflective assessment of the handling of the formal language encountered and, at the same time, a proposal for new graphic paths. If we look at the drawings, organised in sets, they now appear ‘submerged in colour’ and it is this inclusion that, as the artist says, ‘transports them to another space, virtual, beyond paper’. The figures, stabilised through the constant redrawing that defines them, that purifies and stylises them, are intentionally diluted in the reading by incorporating the same colour as the background, with a slight variation in the concentration of the pigment.
The idea of nomenclature - there are ‘suits’ of drawings, three sets of four drawings with inked backgrounds, each with one of the primary colours: yellow, orange/red, blue - rather than corresponding to a playful impulse, which also exists, above all reinforces the idea of serialising and cataloguing the images, in the same process of inventorying the work that organises the entire show.
